Just Add Beats Summer Program Instructor (In-Person)

Are you ready to help kids tell their stories and express themselves through creating original songs and podcasts this Summer? Apply to be a Just Add Beats Summer Program Instructor! You’ll join a dynamic group of educators passionate about helping kids in grades 3-12 build critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity skills through our project-based learning curricula focused on music production and digital storytelling. Our ideal instructors are creative storytellers with teaching experience who are excited to learn some of the latest audio production hardware and software tools. Position: Summer Program Instructor (In-Person)

​Contractual, 1-5 hours per week, June and July 2024

Pay: $100/hour for teaching, $20/hour for pre-program professional development training

​Content Areas: Podcasting/Storytelling, Music Production, and Sound Design

Locations: Houston, TX area

Prior Experience:

  • 2 years of age-appropriate classroom teaching experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 30 completed college credits

Demonstrated competencies in the following areas are required:

  • Lesson Plan Development: Experience in creating and teaching age-appropriate lesson plans 
  • Behavior Management & Classroom Management: Ability to keep students engaged and use behavior management strategies to set and maintain clear expectations
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and program site staff
  • Technical Skills: Candidates must be ready to learn and use new technology. You will learn how to use audio recording hardware and software, teach students how to use this hardware and software, and troubleshoot students’ hardware and software problems during class sessions ​
